Commenting on other blogs is something all bloggers should be doing not only does it gain you backlinks but also gets you great exposure for your blog.

I agree with you marketingblog, If you're dropping because you promote your site double your effort and leave a trail (hits two bird in one stone).

AHHHHH look its my comment in the post! excitement, I agree about leaving a trail of yourself. I usually end up posting on at least 5-10 blogs a day if I have the time. Thanks for using my comment, I am glad we agree.

Good advice. I try to leave a comment when I find the information helpful. Sometimes it's very difficult though, and takes several attempts for the comments to go through! I'm new to blogging, and gain some knowledge from each site! Thanks for sharing

Amen. Most people don't realize the effect of back links and SEO when you leave a comment. I'm guilty of not always leaving comments, but I'm working on it. :-)

True, some have took advantage and abuse the system too! but when you use the positive way of back links and SEO it's rewarding. It works for me and 3 months after i got PR3 but when i started using PPP i got spank :(

Working on your commenting side is good start.

I understand what you are saying about leaving a trail and generating some interest for yourself and your blog. I comment whenever I can, but I don't always have something to say. I don't feel that it is right to comment just to comment or because I think the blog owner will visit my blog. I think comments should be more about communication and community than promotion. If you communicate and build a network or community, the traffic to your blog will increase.

Some very good pointers. I think actively getting involved in the blogging community by leaving a comment is a great way to begin networking.

Hi! Anna,

It's true comment is more of communication and community, but for you to be able to build a network you have to go out there are and promote yourself or your blog, once you are established then that is time you can focus on building a network or community.

I am not suggesting to comment just for the sake of commenting, but what i am suggesting is that when you comment there is a guarantee that you get a comment back . There are sites where we bookmarked, subscribed etc.. because we like them we can start there.
